An investigation is underway after a Los Angeles police officer fired fire and fatally hit an armed suspect around Harvard Heights on Tuesday night.
Police were answering a call that was “fired” around 10pm at an apartment near South Ardmore Avenue and West 11th Avenue when the incident occurred.
“When Ofcrs arrived in the area of the phone, they encountered an armed suspect, and officers involved in the shooting occurred. The suspect, known as a male adult, was shot and taken into custody.”
“The suspect’s gun will be retrieved at the scene along with the used casing and reserved as evidence,” the post reads.

The unidentified suspect was taken by ambulance to a nearby hospital where he was declared dead, Pio said.
No officers or other community members were injured.
“This is an ongoing incident in which we still have to interview witnesses, officers and physically worn videos and surveillance videos available to us,” LAPD spokesman Bruce Bolihan said.
The South Ardmore Avenue and West 11th Avenue areas were closed for investigation. The nearby West Olympic Boulevard was still open.
