Two sources familiar with the issue say federal authorities reportedly provided bomb parts to suspects who were responsible for the Palm Springs fertility clinic last month at JFK airport in New York.
Sources say an individual who was detained at the airport last night around 5pm will appear in Brooklyn federal court on charges related to the Palm Springs attack Wednesday afternoon. The source requested anonymity as they were not permitted to publicly speak about pending cases.
Sources have identified the man who arrested Daniel Park, 32, in Kent, Washington.
The US lawyers in Los Angeles and the city’s top FBI officials will announce the development of the case at a press conference Wednesday at 9am. Bill Essayri, the top federal prosecutor in LA, previously said his office and the FBI would lead an investigation into cases labeled domestic terrorism.
The main suspect, Guy Edward Burtos, is believed to have exploded a bomb at an American reproductive center in Palm Springs on May 17th, injuring at least four people.
The FBI described the Palm Springs explosion as strong enough to damage a building a few blocks away. “Perhaps the biggest bombing scene we had in Southern California,” and launched the 2018 spa bombing at Aliso Viejo.
Law enforcement sources told the Times that the bombers used so much explosives that the bomb shredded his body. Investigators have looked into how Bartkus has acquired a massive cache of bomb material.
Law enforcement sources said authorities recovered explosives from Berthos’ home and were skilled at assembling the explosive devices. He was also a longtime rocket builder.
FBI case investigators and law enforcement sources characterize the 25-year-old Bartkus as having an “anti-inatalist” idea. This is linked to him by conclusions drawn from social media posts and other online materials authorities.
In these public posts, he argued that reproduction without the consent of the fetus is unethical and unjust in a world where people suffer from environmental harm, violence, population and excessive population.
The online trails that authorities have delved into gathering insights into Bartks’ motivations include a website that appears to be dedicated to the bombing of Palm Springs. It features a 30-minute recording showing that the site data was uploaded at the time of the explosion, and promises a video of the explosion (not posted). There are also YouTube videos under the web alias associated with Bartkus, as well as threads for Reddit and Suicide Forum.
In them, Bertus expressed disappointment at the death of his “best friend” Sophie. She died in April and is said to have been shot in the head by her partner. The man told police he was acting at her request.
