Two young suspects have been arrested for allegedly running drug delivery services targeting students across Ventura County.

One suspect was identified as 18-year-old Edgar Nabte of Camarillo. The other was identified only as a male teenager due to his minor status, according to the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office.

In April and May, detectives began investigating drug delivery services that sold drugs primarily to children throughout the county.

The service sold marijuana, psilocybin mushrooms and nicotine steaming devices to the boys. One of the younger customers was hospitalized after consuming psilocybin mushrooms sold by the service.

The detectives later identified NABTE and an unidentified juvenile male as suspects, reportedly selling the drugs through social media and messaging platforms.

On May 21, authorities served as search warrants in the 2600 block of Antonio Drive, Camarillo and the 2300 block of Ross Ferris Drive, Thousand Oaks.

During the search, Nabte was placed and taken into custody. Two days later, the male teenager was arrested and arrested at 1,000 Oaks.

Lawmakers discovered about 47 marijuana steamers, 62 nicotine steamers, 18 containers, and a large amount of loose marijuana during the search.

They also discovered over $5,000 in US currency, which is believed to be revenue from illegal drug sales. Nabte was booked at the Ventura County Jail for the sale of controlled substances to minors, possession of controlled substances for sale, and conspiracy to commit a crime. He is being held on $50,000 bail.

The male teenager was arrested for possession of a controlled substance for sale, conspiracy to commit a crime, and driving a motor vehicle without a license.

The task force involved in this case, VC Focus said, “It aims to combat fentanyl-related crime and opioid overdose. It aims to target the supply chain of individuals and criminal organizations responsible for the sale of these drugs to Ventura County. Furthermore, the task force works to identify new trends in abuse among the younger population and to educate communities at risk for this lethal epidec.

Anyone with information about a case or similar crime can call VC Focus Task Force investigators at 805-383-8700 or email vcfocus@ventura.org.
