American Dog Dog | Kind Loving Dog, a nonprofit known for changing lives through cleverly trained service dogs, will be open to the public on Saturday, June 7th, 2025 for the annual Open House celebration.
The free event, held on a 7-acre, scenic campus in Sylmer, California, runs from 10am to 3pm and is open to all ages.
This year’s theme, “The Crossing of Plates Since 48,” celebrates the organization’s long-standing commitment to service, support and community since its inception in 1948. The day is engaging and promises heartwarming moments designed to showcase the strong bonds between entertainment, education and people.
Highlights of the event include a puppy kissing booth, opportunities to meet dogs during training, guided training tours and kennel facilities, and a silent auction featuring curated gift baskets.
Families will also hear powerful direct accounts from recipients whose life has been transformed by their guides and service dogs.
“Our open houses are more than just a fun day for families. It’s a chance for the community to see firsthand the impact our guides and service dogs will change the impact on people’s lives,” says Tony Blevins, president and director of GDA.
One such story is about Kim, a veteran and award winner of PTSD service dog. “Jackson isn’t just my service dog. He’s my lifeline,” she shared. “Because of him, I enjoy the moments I once missed.”
Founded as a nonprofit organization, the American Guide Dogs of America | Soft-loving Dogs provide skillfully trained dogs free of charge to blind or visually impaired individuals, PTSD veterans, children with autism, hospitals, schools, courts and other public facilities.
The organization covers all program-related costs, including training, travel, rooms, boards, and long-term support, and removes financial barriers to access.
Registration for the 2025 Open House is free and is currently open on their website
