Friday is an important opportunity for travel in Los Angeles County.
Tonight, LAX/Metro Transit Center station will begin offering the best public transport access to the airport Southern Californians have ever had.
For now, the station will be connected to the airport via a free shuttle running every 10 minutes, but next year it will be even easier to open an automated people mover.

However, ahead of APM’s opening, the connections of transit centre stations to the C and K railway lines, as well as bus routes and airport shuttles, will help close “one of the worst gaps in LA transit infrastructure.”
“The wait is almost over,” Los Angeles,” said Janice Hahn, chairman of the Metro Committee earlier this year. “Finally, we’re getting a loose train, and when Lax People Mover finally opens, there’s really an international airport that connects people from inside the terminal beyond the metro and into the world.”
The station’s opening comes before a series of high-profile sporting events that are expected to bring crowds of visitors to Southern California.
The 2026 NBA All-Star Game at the 2027 Intuit Dome Super Bowl LXI at the 2026 FIFA World Cup at SOFI Stadium was held at multiple venues and at multiple venues at the 2028 Summer Olympics and Paralympic Games.
Authorities have pledged to create a “car-free” Olympics, and LAX/Metro Transit Center stations are expected to become an important part of the transportation system needed to cut down on cars.
The station is located at 9225 Aviation Blvd.
