After several immigration attacks took place in downtown Los Angeles and in LA’s Westlake area, community organizations gathered to protest and then marched through the area.
After the humanitarian immigration rights (Chirla) held a rally on Los Angeles Avenue, about 500 people marched down the streets around federal buildings, raising signs and flags of immigration support.
According to LAPD, the protest was declared an illegal assembly at 7pm. The protesters were asked to break up or be arrested.

Some protesters destroyed federal buildings with graffiti as law enforcement responded with smoke bombs during demonstrations.
Immigration advocacy groups pledged that after workers were arrested outside local businesses it was “fighting back.”
“If our constitutional rights are violated, then if our due process is violated, we may violate anyone’s rights,” said Angelica Salas of Chrla. “If you think you’re protected because you’re not an immigrant, then I’m here to tell you what’s going on in our country.”
Salsa said she will leverage a network of immigration lawyers, faith leaders and educators to help migrants who are detained or faced with the potential for detention.
The Union Dell Barrio and the Self-Defense Coalition of Communities were also expected to protest Friday evening in downtown L.A. against the “terrorizing people” attacks and deportations.
The Los Angeles Police Department said officers have been requested in the downtown Los Angeles area to ease “large and unruly groups.” However, the police department did not declare an illegal assembly Friday evening.
The video shows multiple people being detained by the SWAT by supporting local law enforcement agencies.
