Officials said two vehicles were trapped inside a crushed vehicle and injured in Los Angeles’ Sun Valley area on Saturday afternoon.
The LA City Fire Department reported the crash at 3:33pm, saying there were a total of four patients when crew members arrived at the crash site at the intersection of North Laurel Canyon Boulevard and Stratan Street.
One patient died at the scene and another was presumed to be in critical condition, and had to escape from the vehicle and be taken to a local trauma centre.
Two other patients suffered minor injuries but refused to transport them, according to the fire department.
The crew did not reveal any details about the vehicle involved, but footage from the scene posted to Citizen.com showed what looked like a dark blue Chevrolet Silverado with a cut silver sedan with major front-end damage and deep impact damage to the passenger side.

The debris from the crash fall and the presence of large amounts of law enforcement filled the intersection, but firefighters were seen pushing out one of the trapped passengers and carrying them on a stretcher.
None of the patients were identified and staff did not immediately check if the other locked individual was deceased, but footage of the broken aftermath showed that officers installing a white canvas over the sedan showed.
The LAFD said drivers can expect locally affected traffic, but fire companies and heavy rescue resources are engaged in escape and recovery efforts.
