After days of immigration sweep and protests and the morning of the military mobilized in Los Angeles caused by the deployment of President Los Angeles’ National Guard, it was launched again after authorities confirmed on Sunday that US immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents had arrived in Southern California.
Protests escalate again in downtown Los Angeles
Protesters in downtown Los Angeles have been ordered to disband after the Los Angeles Police Department declared illegal legislative assembly again.
Hours after announcing the launch of three separate peaceful protests across LA, the LAPD central division announced that the city was receiving tactical warnings at 2:30pm
“Less deadly ammunition is permitted,” LAPD said. “Arrests are being made.”
In an update before 3:30pm, LAPD said officers were watching people in the crowd throw “concrete, bottles and other objects.”
Traffic in all lanes of Alameda between Aliso and Temple Street has been closed between Spring Street between Temple and 1st Avenue as of 3pm on Sunday.
Additionally, LAPD has warned the public against entering the active MTA train area. “Everyone on track will be arrested,” the department said. “I’m leaving the truck area.”
Sky5 was overhead as protesters moved to the 101 highway. Some are trying to block California Highway Patrol vehicles before crowds are poured into both the south and north lanes.
Just before 4pm, two motorcycles ran through the skirmish lines between Temple and Alameda, possibly injuring the injured. Gil Leyvas of Ktla reported seeing at least three people in custody after the collision.

Ice Agent Found in Pasadena
“We have received and confirmed reports that federal officials exist in Pasadena,” read a statement from Mayor Victor M. Gordo. “We encourage our community to stay calm, united and peaceful.
The announcement comes after unidentified ice activity spread Sunday morning, not yet occurring at a hotel on Madison Avenue near Colorado Boulevard. However, in a statement posted to X at 1:15pm, authorities said “no enforcement activities have been confirmed at this time.”
City officials noticed a small gathering “near city locations within the city” on Sunday, but did not specify whether what they were referring to was a demonstration seen outside the hotel.
KTLA crews sent to the hotel were able to confirm the presence of ice agents and learned that there were no aggressive attacks at the location. Some hotel workers were left by choice after being allegedly questioned by agents, according to activists on the ground.

“At this time, the city is not aware of federal enforcement measures, including those relating to immigration,” the Pasadena X Account said in relation to previous gatherings.
The protest remained peaceful in Pasadena on Sunday afternoon, exemplifying hopes and messages pushed by leaders as tensions rose between local and federal officials on Saturday.
Leader speaks when the federal forces are approaching
In response to the escalating protests that had become devastating early in the weekend, the White House announced Saturday evening that Trump had officially deployed a 2,000-person National Guard “to deal with the lawlessness that was allowed to Fester.”
Gov. Gavin Newsom called the move “deliberately inflammatory” and said it “just escalates tension.”
“The federal government is sowing mixed chaos, so they can make excuses to escalate,” Newsom said. “That’s not the behavior of a civilized country.”
US Secretary of Defense Pete Hegses joined in ongoing conversations about the X, threatening to mobilize active Marines at Camp Pendleton “if violence continues.”
In response to the federal government’s deployment of National Guard, Newsom’s Office issued a joint statement on Sunday with a quote and a joint statement from senators, lawmakers and other statewide and local officials.
The list of quotes was by Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass, who said, “The fear people are feeling in our city right now is very realistic. It is felt in our community and in our families, putting our neighborhoods at risk. Mayor Bass also spoke with the KTLA in an exclusive interview on Sunday morning, expressing his disappointment at the president’s decision to deploy the National Guard.
President Trump took him back to his social media platform Truth Social on Sunday afternoon in the next response to Los Angeles unrest.
“A formerly a great American city, Los Angeles has been invaded and occupied by illegal aliens and criminals. Now violent, rebel mobs are trying to sweep federal agents and attack and stop deportation operations, but these lawless riots only strengthen our resolve. The relevant departments and agencies take all the necessary actions to free Los Angeles from immigrant invasions, restore these immigrant riots, illegals have been expelled, and Los Angeles is paying your attention.”
As federal forces continue to loom, a common message from local and state leaders continues to encourage peace among protesters and reminds the public to recognize their rights.
