Several businesses were plundered and destroyed as law enforcement worked to restore order following a weekend of violent protests in downtown Los Angeles.
Protesters were largely dispersed as of Monday morning, but the streets are closed and heavy law enforcement presence is in place around some DTLA federal buildings where the National Guard is listed.
Graffiti could be seen in post-business business, including the Los Angeles Times Building a few blocks.
A video recorded shortly after midnight showed looters coming and going to the T-Mobile store after smashing the glass front door early Monday morning.
The looters will enter and leave the T-Mobile store in downtown Los Angeles on June 9, 2025.
Armed officers also responded to Adidas’ store after reports that they had been looted near the 8th and Broadway. Some of the items taken from the store had been recovered by law enforcement and could be seen on the vehicle.
According to freelance media company KNN, one person was taken into custody after a physical altercation with an executive.
Police have declared everything in the DTLA to be illegal gathering areas. However, the fourth day of the protest is expected on Monday. There are early signs of a rally scheduled at noon at Grand Park in Los Angeles.
Police reported 42 arrests arising from Sunday’s protest, including 19 people by the California Highway Patrol.
Trump’s decision to introduce the National Guard has been heavily criticized by Democrats and may argue that he may insist on the use of force.
Trump responded by saying he was ready to take the US Marines to Los Angeles if necessary.
