The 2025 BET Awards are expected to continue as planned Monday night as protests continue around Los Angeles over federal ice attacks.
The ceremony will be held at the Peacock Theatre in downtown LA Live in Los Angeles.
This was near the epicenter of Sunday’s massive protest, with thousands taking them to the streets via President Donald Trump’s immigration crackdown and National Guard deployment. At one point, the group blocked the 101 highway. Some people set the self-driving cars on fire and threw objects, including concrete and electric scooters, at police.
“We are committed to the safety of our guests and staff. We are working closely with LAPD to monitor the situation. The 2025 BET Awards are scheduled for Monday, June 9th, 2025 at 8pm (ET/PT).”
Comedian and actor Kevin Hart is set to host the show. Lil Wayne, Playboi Carti, Leon Thomas, Keyshia Cole and Glorilla are listed as acts of music. The show will air in bed.
This year’s ceremony, known as “the biggest night of culture,” is celebrating its 25th anniversary. The BET Award celebrates the achievements of black artists, actors, athletes and more throughout the entertainment industry.
KTLA 5 has been in touch with bets for comment and is waiting for a response.
