WASHINGTON – President Trump’s nervous late-night conference call on Friday night issued a warning to “equip police.” The president had been shown evidence that his staff had been stolen at the 7-Eleven and lacerations of federal law enforcement.
His patience took less than 24 hours before federalizing the National Guard with historic actions.
“He told the governor to take control of it, making it worse for another day, 24 hours. “As an increase in attacks on federal law enforcement and increased violence, the president took bold action on Saturday evening to protect federal detention spaces, federal buildings and federal officials.”
The president did so, Leavitt said, “I hope that the deployment of the National Guard will prevent and block some of this violence.”
Opposition occurred. The worst violence took place on Sunday. Hours after several mobs arrive in Los Angeles County, they tighten and throw torches and hurling concrete in their police cars.
The protests were largely peaceful throughout Friday and Saturday, and there were isolated cases of violent activities. Leavitt said Los Angeles mayors Newsom and Karen Bass are making the Los Angeles Police Department “disabled.”
Local leaders “allowed local police departments to work with the federal government to enforce immigration laws in our country, detaining and arresting violent criminals on the streets of Los Angeles,” she said.
The president and his so-called immigrant emperor Tom Homan suggest that political leadership, including Newsom himself, could be arrested for “obstructive” actions.
“To say that it’s a fundamental principle in this country, if you break the law, you’ll face consequences,” Leavitt said. “So if the governor interferes with federal enforcement or breaks federal law, he is under arrest.”
Leavitt said he would not be ahead of Trump on whether he would call the Rebellion Act, a law that would allow the president to suspend comitatus at rallys to ban the military from engaging in local law enforcement.
But she praised the president on Monday for calling some of the rioters rebels and potentially laying the foundation for calling the law.
“The president wisely keeps all his options on the table and does what he needs to do to restore law and order in California,” she said.
The president’s order directs 2,000 National Guard troops to protect federal buildings in the city, allowing for 60 days of deployment. Leavitt said how long the operation will last, but suggested it would continue until the violence in the protest was over.
“I don’t want to go any further than the president when it comes to decisions and timelines,” she said. “I can say the White House is 100% focused on this. The President wants to resolve the issue. That means creating an environment where citizens can be given the right to peacefully protest if they want.”
“And these violent destroyers and rebels, as the president called them, are the fundamental rights that this administration will always support and protect, not only harm law-abiding citizens, but also those who want to protest peacefully.”
