The heartbroken family has spoken after dozens of car wash workers and at least one customer were detained in a US Immigration Customs Enforcement (ICE) attack in West Los Angeles over the weekend.
A video posted on social media showed 15-year-old Brian Vasquez screaming for Border Patrol agents as he took his father into custody during a weekend ice business in Culver City.
“I grabbed him and told him to promise me not to sign anything, I told him to see him right away,” the teen told KTLA’s Sandra Mitchell.
According to his loved ones, 48-year-old Arturo Vasquez was arrested Sunday morning while visiting Culver City Car Wash with his family.
“I promised him that I would take care of my brother and my mother, he should not worry about anything,” Brian said.
The family said Arturo has not been documented, but he has no criminal history.

Noemi Ciau, another devastated resident of West LA, told KTLA that her husband had been working at Westchester Hand Wash for 10 years and was taken into custody on the same day.
“They’re gone, everyone’s gone,” she said. “We got in touch with the couple who confirmed he was taken.”
Ciau said she missed her husband deeply and she struggled to explain the situation to the couple’s four young children.
“My 5 year old thinks that dad is still at work,” she said. “My 10 year old, he kind of understands what’s going on.”
She knew immigration enforcement under the Trump administration had escalated, but Ciau said she never imagined her family would be targeted.
“If he’s okay, I just want to know where he is. Of course I want him to go home,” she said.
As of Monday night, these families said they were unable to contact or contact their loved ones who were detained over the weekend.
