Former OC director Andrew has been sentenced to five years in federal prison

Former Orange County Superintendent Andrew Do has been sentenced to five years in federal prison.

While in office, Andrew Huang said 62, “I’ll accept it.”[ed] Bes more than $550,000 for supervision and vote[ed] “The U.S. Department of Justice said in a news release that it supports a charity partnered with one of his daughters that Covid-19 pandemic relief funds exceed $10 million.”

Its nonprofit, Viet America Society, has received millions from the county, according to investigations by LAIST and other outlets. Do’s daughter Rhiannon Do, 23, bought a $1 million home after VAS officials were told they used taxes to enrich themselves.

“As the county’s supervisor, Andrew transformed Orange County into insiders, loved ones, and ATMs he himself can use, pulling out millions of dollars to buy homes, lavish dinners, expensive wine, and the elderly, sick and the vulnerable people Andrew relied on were left behind. “We, along with our federal partners, continue to strip the layer of intrigue to hold all the burglars accountable and bring stolen money back to the community they belong to.”

Last year, Do, who resigned from his office and agreed to plead guilty to conspiracy to commit bribery, held a reparation hearing on August 11th.

He is responsible for repaying “the bribe he and his daughters received,” prosecutors said, but the plea has already cost the hundreds of thousands of dollars.

“Formulate any forfeitures related to the bribery scheme, including Tustin’s property that my daughter purchased in 2023,” DOJ said. “As part of her daughter’s related diversion agreement, she confiscated Tustin’s property.”

The DO pensions that occurred during the scheme were also confiscated.

“Elected officials are obligated to place the interests of their members before themselves,” Bill Essay said. “Public funds aimed at supporting victims of the aging and disease pandemic will instead praise our prosecutors and law enforcement partners to help eliminate corrupt politicians from their work on this important case and his seat in power.”

Anyone with information about public corruption in Orange County is encouraged to submit the information to the FBI email tip line at https://tips.fbi.gov and contact the FBI’s Los Angeles Field Office at 310-477-6565.
