Who is rioting in downtown Los Angeles, demonstrators or habitual instigators?

With the fifth day of anti-ice protests typically erratic evening hours, with emergency situations and curfews now in existence, many Southern California and the nation are asking if they are incited violence, committing vandalism and looting.

Is it a demonstrator or a habitual agitator?

At a press conference Tuesday evening, Mayor La Karen Bass announced a curfew in a one-square-mile area in downtown between 110, 10 and 5 highways, including Skid Row, Chinatown, Little Tokyo and The Fashion District.

The curfew, which begins this evening at 8pm and runs until 6am, is expected to remain intact for at least a few days.

“There were 23 businesses that were looted last night,” the mayor said. “As you go through downtown Los Angeles, the graffiti is everywhere and I think it’s causing a lot of damage to businesses and a lot of property.”

Bass warned that with limited exceptions, anyone attempting to stay in the curfew zone after 8pm will be arrested.

On Monday, Bass expressed deep frustration at those who chose to engage in illegal behavior, using the emigrant rights closure as a cause for mayhem.

“I’m going to tell people who do that and say you’re not saying you support immigrant rights. You can’t support immigrants and destroy our city,” she said. “You’ll be arrested. It may not happen that day. So don’t think you’re free because you got home that night. There’s a lot of videotapes, investigations where you happen, and you need to be responsible and, frankly, separate from those fighting on behalf of our immigrant community.”

On Sunday, LA Police Chief Jim McDonnell highlighted the fight by violent police, who reportedly plunged into a skirmish line from a police officer cocktail and a Molotov cocktail that struck two motorcyclists.

“It can kill you,” McDonnell emphasized.

The evening of June 9th also developed into a stretch of five Waymo Driver Res Taxi on North Los Angeles Street, near Arcadia Street, tagged with graffiti, sending toxic black smoke flames and clouds into the air.

“These are all people who are hooded up and wear face masks. [and] The chief said. That’s what they do. I hate it even more [is] Many people doing this come from elsewhere just to hurt people and cause havoc. ”

Late Tuesday afternoon, police said nearly 200 people had been arrested on various charges.

Just before 9pm, the LAPD central division said in a post to X that “mass arrests have begun.”
