A probation man was arrested Friday afternoon, allegedly upsetting the crowd in protest of an ice attack in downtown Riverside and upsetting the crowd protesting key officers in the pursuit.
The suspect, who police described as a rebel, had driven the circle around demonstrations in the Mission in Avenue and Orange Street areas when they got into an argument with the protesters.
According to the Riverside Police Department, it happened around 3:20pm, with some protesters allegedly robbing the man’s flag, but later threw it back. Officials did not say what kind of flag it was.
Police returned to the man allegedly upset the crowd, but he later took off in his car as officers approached him in the University Avenue and Lime Street areas. However, the pursuit was short-lived.
The suspect crashed into a utility pole, ended the pursuit, and then ran to a nearby house.
Police said he eventually came out and surrendered to the authorities and surrendered to the authorities. The officer also found a gun in his car.

He is currently facing charges of felony avoidance and illegal possession of a firearm, and a spokesman with Riverside Police said he is investigating whether detectives wielded the weapon during the protest.
