Two Palmdale residents have been arrested on suspicion of murdering someone they believe investigators are involved in a robbery in the Wilshire area, according to release from the Los Angeles Police Department.
On Wednesday afternoon, police responded to a stinging call in the 100 block of North Rothmore Avenue in the Hancock Park area. They discovered 84-year-old Gary Nelson as “suffering from serious lacerations,” the release said. The Los Angeles Fire Department declared Nelson dead at the scene, officials said.
The suspects were identified as 41-year-old Rolando Guardado and 45-year-old Madeline Fresia Rivas. The two were found at their Palmdale home and were taken into custody by the FBI with the help of the LAPD Metropolitan Division SWAT. Police said the weapon was also recovered.
Authorities said the motive is believed to be robbery-related, but investigators did not elaborate. Guardado and Rivas are booked for murder. The case is a pending charge by the Los Angeles County District Attorney.
It is unclear whether the suspect has any connection to the victim, the release said. The detective continued to investigate the lawsuit.
