The pair of Minnesota politicians reportedly were shot by a gunman who allegedly disguised himself as police officers, and now a manhunt is ongoing and shelter in the location is in effect.
The shooting “targeted” by Minnesota Gov. Tim Waltz took place outside of Minneapolis in Champurin and Brooklyn Park, according to the governor. He later announced that he operated the state emergency business center.
Local news outlet KSTP reported that the victim of Champlin’s shooting was Sen. John Hoffman (MN-34), and the victim of the Brooklyn Park shooting was State Rep. Melissa Hortman. The KSTP report said that preliminary information showed multiple people were shot at both locations.
The state of lawmakers – both Democrats – was not immediately known. However, ABC News reported that their terms were “significant.”
Residents within a three-mile radius of a local golf course are being asked to evacuate to search for the murderer, who police are said to have been allegedly dressed as law enforcement, according to multiple local media reports.
He is armed by the authorities and is considered dangerous.
