Evacuation orders for all zones affected by the deadly Palisade fire in January have been lifted completely, officials said Sunday.
The Los Angeles Fire Department has announced the lifting of the final order at 1190 N. Piedra Morada Drive on Sunday.
A spokesman for the LAFD said the order remained as the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and other agencies were monitoring air and soil quality and monitoring dangerous debris, and wanted people to leave the area.
However, she also said that people had already ignored those orders and began to come back before Sunday. All traffic restrictions have also been lifted in the region.
The fire broke out on January 7th, which was historically driven by strong winds. It burned 23,448 acres, destroyed many of the exclusive seaside community and killed 12 people.
Pacific Coast Highway was largely off-limits to everyone except residents, first responders and cleanup crews in the months since the fire, but reopened to all traffic on May 23.
Getty Villa, which has been closed since the fire broke into its property in January, will resume to the public on June 27th.
