Three-time MVP Shohei Ohtani will make his pitching debut for the Los Angeles Dodgers on Monday night, the team announced.
At the X-Post, which rocked the baseball fanbase on Sunday night, the Dodgers said the MLB star would become the starting pitcher for the home game against the San Diego Padres.
The two-way phenomenon returns to the highly anticipated pitcher’s mound after rehabilitating his final MLB season from elbow surgery for the first time in 21 months.
Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said “Schhei is good for us” before the team announced that Otani would get the ball Monday night.
“I don’t know if it’s one or two innings, but my guess is probably the innings to start. But that’s good. I’ve run the course live, simulation, or whatever. He’s ready to make his debut on the mound.”
The Dodgers announced after a 5-4 victory over San Francisco on Sunday night, reporting that they had gained momentum a day after Otani’s two-homer game against the Giants to end his 10-game drought.
“It felt like I hadn’t hit a home run for a while,” Otani said through an interpreter after Saturday’s game.
“I didn’t understand that,” Roberts said when he was informed of the Otani Homer drought. “He has a way of making up for things and leveling things out.”
