Firefighters announced a brushfire occurred Monday afternoon in the city of Santa Paula in Ventura County.
The flames were incited by land winds, just as 20 acres of flames burned at the bottom of the Santa Clara River.
“More than 140 firefighters were on the scene, supported by two helicopters, and a third mutual aid helicopter was requested,” the Ventura County Fire Department said.
When a water-dropping helicopter attacks a fire from the sky, ground crews try to control the fire boundaries while defending the structure of the area.
