A federal judge declared several National Health Institute grants illegal and described the cuts as discriminatory during his remarks Monday, according to a report.
“I hesitate to draw this conclusion, but I have a worrying duty to elicit it — this indicates that it represents racism and discrimination against the American LGBTQ community,” Judge William Young said. “That’s this. I’ll be blind to not calling it out. My duty is to call it.”
Young, who serves in the US District Court for the Massachusetts, was appointed then President Ronald Reagan in 1985, according to the court’s website.

“HHS is based on the decision to end funding research that prioritizes the ideological agenda over scientific rigor and meaningful outcomes of the American people,” Nixon declared in a statement provided to Fox News Digital.
“Under the leadership of Secretary Kennedy and the Trump administration, HHS is committed to ensuring that taxpayer dollars support evidence-based practices and programs rooted in gold standard science that are not driven by divisive Day orders and gender ideology,” Nixon said.
White House spokesman Kush Desai accused the judge of airing his own views.
“It is frightening that a federal judge will use court proceedings to express his political views and preferences. How a judge will make a fair decision when he explicitly states his biased opinion that justice is under control when he controls his political news when the withdrawal of illegal DEI funds is racist and anti-LGBTQ is refuting.

The White House deputy press secretary argued that “Day was based on the premise that an individual’s abilities and abilities were tied to his or her racial background, and that Americans overwhelmingly rejected this flaw and racist logic.”
“The Trump administration is working to restore the gold standard of science, which starts with acknowledging the biological realities of genders for men and women.
