The two men were expected to appear in court Tuesday after being charged with federal charges for a $100 million Brinkstrack robbery at a highway rest area in northern Los Angeles.
Gold, diamonds, rubies, emeralds and gorgeous watches carried from a gem show near San Francisco were stolen in a July 2022 crime.
The newly released Bodycam video shows the multi-million dollar Brinks Truck Jewelry Heist as it is being transported from the San Francisco Jewelry Show to Pasadena.
The suspect tracked down the Brinks Semi-Trailer Truck as he left the show on the night of July 10, 2022 with 73 bags of jewelry. Authorities say the thief stole 24 bags when the truck was at a five-time highway rest stop in Rebeck.
DOJ said some of the jewelry was recovered during the execution of the June 16 search warrant. Details about what led to the arrest were not available immediately, but federal prosecutors said some of the men were linked to similar cargo transport crimes.
Several of the suspects have been accused of stealing $240,500 worth of Samsung electronics in Ontario in March 2022. According to the DOJ, the same defendant was armed with a knife and then stolen an Apple Airtag box truck driver worth $57,300 after being armed with a knife.
In May 2022, the suspect stole more than $14,000 worth of Samsung Electronics from another cargo in Fontana.
A federal complaint, which was returned on June 11, charged seven defendants with two conspiracies in which they commit theft from interstate and foreign shipping and theft from interstate and foreign shipping. Five suspects were also charged with two conspiracy to intervene in commercial transactions by robbery and commercial transactions by robbery (Hobbs Act) and with additional counts of theft from interstate and foreign shipping.
