Santa Monica police have arrested a 39-year-old Long Beach man in connection with an attempted sexual assault on an 84-year-old woman.
According to a police station press release, the incident occurred at around 9:30pm on June 5th near the intersection of Sixth Avenue and Wilshire Boulevard.
Officers responded to reports of the woman screaming and found the victim, a Santa Monica resident who appears to be “suffering.”
“The victim approached the male suspect and reported that she had been grabbed from behind, which dragged her into a nearby alley and attempted to sexually assault,” police said.

Several witnesses confirmed the victim’s explanation and observed the suspect fleeing the scene. Police have arrested the suspect, identified as Pape Tall, near Fifth Avenue and California Avenue.
The Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office filed tall charges including intent to commit rape, assault with intent to commit rape, and violation of probation. His court appearance is scheduled for July 9th.
