Louisiana Sen. Blake Miguez announced his bid for the US Senate, declaring in a campaign video that he is running for the US Senate because Bill Cassidy smokes.
The video highlights old footage of Republican Sen. Bill Cassidy, pointing to his vote to convict President Donald Trump. Cassidy voted for a conviction after the House of Representatives fired Trump each in the wake of the Capitol riots on January 6, 2021.
However, the Senate vote came after Trump resigned, and ultimately did not reach the required threshold for conviction.
“Today I am announcing my candidacy for the United States Senate,” declared Miguez in X’s Tuesday post featuring the campaign video. “American dreams run because they are worth fighting – and DC Fony forgets that. Bill Cassidy has betrayed our state, our president and our principles.
“As your next senator, I won’t bend. I won’t break. I’ll stand with President Trump. And I won’t stop fighting to put America first. Bill Cassidy had his shot. He didn’t miss it.
