The home goods retailer across the country has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy and will close 26 “low-performing” stores nationwide, the company announced Monday.
The Coppel, Texas-based chain has submitted “a fast-changing tariff landscape, sustained macroeconomic headwinds and internal pressures.” The closures are spreading from California to New York.
“These newly imposed tariffs and the uncertainty of ongoing US trade negotiations have strengthened the company’s financial pressure,” he said at his home, referring to the broader tariff war with President Donald Trump’s major trading partners.
It also cited the prolonged effects of the Covid-19 pandemic and the changes in consumer preferences from brick and mortar shops to online shopping for furniture and decorations.

At home, he’s on a list of major retailers that will close this year, including Rite Aid, Big Lot, LL Flooring, Joann Fabrics, Kohl’s, Express, Jcpenney and Macy’s.
As part of the bankruptcy proceedings, ownership from home will be transferred to several hedge funds and investment companies based in New York and California, according to a news release.

All 26 stores are scheduled to close by September 30, 2025.
At home, it was founded in 1979 under the name Garden Ridge Ceramics.
