A pregnant US citizen who was detained by a federal agent about two weeks ago, later gave birth to a healthy baby girl, but now her boyfriend is left out of state, and her problems are far from the end.
Cary López Alvarado told KTLA that she “treated to get stronger” during the horrifying ordeal outside the Hawthorne building where her boyfriend and cousin were doing maintenance work on June 8th. She was pregnant at the time.
The video, filmed by López, depicts the struggles with a masked agent asking to confirm her identity, as she protects the truck carrying her boyfriend Brayan Nájera and cousin Alberto Sandoval.

All three of them were eventually taken into custody. Further footage posted on social media shows the agent restraining Lopez after securing the truck between walls.
“They had my boyfriend already on the ground and they were working on my cousin…it was just me knocking on the door inside the car,” Lopez said. “[I was asking] ‘what are you doing? Why do you treat us this way? We did nothing wrong. ”

According to a statement from a Homeland Security representative, Lopez was arrested for preventing agents from accessing a vehicle that includes “two illegal Guatemalan aliens” inside.
“During this incident, the agent was assaulted and additional subjects were taken into custody to push officers forward,” the statement read.
Her mother at the time was taken to a processing facility in San Pedro, where she said the agents automatically assumed she was not documented.
“[They said] “But you’re from Mexico, right?” And I’m like, “No, I’m from here,” Lopez said.[They asked]… “Where is this?” And I’m like, “Here, USA, Los Angeles.”
“They put us in the chains and we had a chain from our hands under my belly, so we went all the way to my feet,” she added. “Sometimes, I feel like I put too much pressure on the chain as it gets under my stomach so I hold my hands in place.”
López was released after complaining of stomach pain and headed straight to the hospital where he began to contract.

Four days after the incident, she gave birth to a healthy baby girl, but the stress is not over as Najera, the baby’s father, is said to be in custody at a Texas facility despite saying he has a clean record.
“He has no criminal history or anything,” she said. “They took him while he was working, and it hurts because he didn’t do anything wrong. He was just working and caring for his family. Why are you treating others like this when they’re not criminals?”

“Color doesn’t matter, lace doesn’t matter… At the end of the day, we’re all human,” she shed tears.

López’s legal team told KTLA that she has not been charged with a crime. In the meantime, she will stay home with her new baby girl.
