Rep. Thomas Massey, R-Ky. , a conservative fiscal Hawk, who refused to sign on to President Donald Trump’s “big beautiful bill,” is building a relentless, bipartisan coalition of lawmakers resisting US involvement in the conflict between Israel and Iran.
“This is not our war, but if that’s the case, Congress must decide such issues in accordance with our constitution,” Massey said in a social media post Tuesday that announced the forces resolution he introduced with California Democrats.
Massey, who threatened the primary during Trump’s negotiations for the House GOP Megaville, said, “invited all members of Congress to conspire with this resolution.” By Tuesday night, the bipartisan bill had garnered 27 co-stars, including representatives of progressive “squad” members, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and Ilhan Omar.
Crossing the political aisle, R-Ga. Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, of the author, informed her support, writing that Americans “will not go to another foreign war” with affordable living expenses, safe communities and quality education.

The bill’s original co-sponsors also include representatives of progressive Democrats. Pramila Jayapal, Summer Lee, Ayana Presley and Rashida Tribe called it unconstitutional, saying, “Trump goes to war without voting in Congress.”

The forces resolution directs “to remove US troops from unauthorized hostilities in Iran’s Islamic state” and “to terminate” the deployment of US troops against Iran without “an approved declaration or specific authorization for the use of the troops against Iran.”
Lawmakers opposed to the US taking part in an escalating conflict in the Middle East have spoken out about Trump’s unconstitutionality as he strikes Iran without Congress’ approval. Parliament has the only power to declare war under Article 1 of the Constitution.
“The American people don’t want to be dragged into another tragic conflict in the Middle East. We are proud to lead this bipartisan war power resolution with Rep. Massey to reassert that military action against Iran must be permitted by Congress,” Kanna said.

The president told reporters Wednesday morning that he was weighing whether to sign off on a military strike against Iran’s nuclear facility.
“Yes, I might do that. I might not do that. I mean, no one knows what I’m going to do,” Trump said.
Trump called for Iran’s “unconditional surrender!” On True Social on Tuesday, the US said it would not attack Iran’s top leader Ayatollah Khamenei, saying “at least for now,” but signaled that America has “slight patience.”
On the night of six consecutive strikes between Israel and Iran, Iran warned that Israel’s participation with Israel would mean “all-out war.”
Israel launched a preemptive attack on Iran’s nuclear facilities and military leaders last week. The Islamic Republic saw it as a “declaration of war,” and then launched its own strike against Israel.

Thousands of American troops are based in a nearby country within Iran’s weapons range, but Trump said Wednesday that he “currently has full and full control of the skies over Iran.”
The Jewish state has targeted Iran’s nuclear capabilities after months of failure in negotiations in the region, raising concerns about the development of Iran’s nuclear weapons.

However, Iran’s Geneva ambassador Ali Baleini said that as Iran continues to target Iran’s nuclear capabilities, Iran “continue to produce rich uranium as long as it is necessary for peaceful purposes.”
The White House did not immediately respond to Fox News Digital’s request for comments on the bill.
