Just as lawmakers discuss the role, if any, the United States should play in an escalating conflict between Israel and Iran, and Progressive “squad” MP Ilhan Omar has piqued the curiosity that no one has ever “attacked” the United States.
“No one is attacking, no one is attacking the Americans. It’s time to stop dragging the Americans into war and engaging them in the war that again chose America for Israel.
Trump called for Iran’s “unconditional surrender!” On True Social on Tuesday, the US said it would not attack Iran’s top leader Ayatollah Khamenei, saying “at least for now,” but signaled that America has “slight patience.”
The Fox News digital report, published Wednesday morning, rebutted Omar’s claim that Americans were not being attacked, including widespread examples of Iran’s direct and proxy strikes against the US military, support for terrorist groups and assassination efforts.

Bill Roggio, editor of the Long War Journal, who testified in support of the victims, said “the impact on Iran’s support for the Taliban and al-Qaeda and its impact on deaths and injuries to American soldiers and civilians is immeasurable.”
“Iran provided money, weapons, training, intelligence and safe shelter to subgroups of the Taliban across Afghanistan, including the heart of Kabul’s country,” Lodgio said.
According to Lodgeo’s estimates, “Iran’s support for the Taliban was only comparable to Pakistan’s support. I argue that Iran’s widespread support has facilitated almost all Taliban attacks on US officials.”
In 2020, General Kasem Soleimani, who attempted to retaliate against the killing of the Islamic Revolutionary security forces, targeted two US bases that house U.S. troops in Iraq with surface missiles.

Three Americans were killed in January 2024, and 25 were injured in a drone attack at a Jordanian post base near the Syrian border. The two Iranians, one of them had double US citizenship, were charged in connection with the attack.
At the time of the attack, House Foreign Affairs Committee Chairman R-Texas Michael McCall said the Iranian proxy “has launched more than 150 attacks on the US troops” following Hamas’ attack on Israel.

He said the drone attacks “seemed to be an unauthorized strike by an unknown Iranian militia. Unlike previous attacks, the group did not assert credibility and there were no subsequent strikes.” He believes Iran “want to keep the United States away from the fight because the US military has the ability to reach Fordow’s underground nuclear facilities.”
