Police say a boy was shot dead during a major brawl that broke out near a San Bernardino County high school Wednesday afternoon, putting the school in temporary lockdown.
The Rialto Police Station was called at 3:15pm, reporting a fight between 15 and 20 people in the 1000 block of North Vista Avenue, a few blocks from Eisenhower High School.
“We were informed by Rialto Police about the shooting that occurred near the Eisenhower High School parking lot,” the Rialto Unified School District said in a statement to KTLA. “Schools in the district are on summer holidays. However, the schools were taken precautions and were lifted shortly after authorities determined the campus was safe.”

Police said the boy pulled out a gun during the fight and began shooting, attacking others at least once. Someone else on the scene drove the victim into the local high school parking lot. There, police and paramedics responded to the situation and began treatment.
The victim was eventually taken to a hospital with life-threatening injuries, police said.
Details are limited and police did not identify the suspect as both the victim or suspect are juveniles. The suspect was taken into custody and authorities immediately provided no further information.
No other injuries have been reported.
