Democrats’ National Committee (DNC) chair Ken Martin stopped by Ohio Red, which turned to a once-a-day battlefield this week as part of a “50-state strategy” to help Democrats try to vote from coast to coast.
“We can’t become a party focused on people’s power. We don’t win elections in DC. They win in states like Ohio,” Martin told Cleveland in the Forum on the Democratic Future. “Ohio is the huge swing state of 2026.”
Martin, who was elected DNC chairman in the beginning of February, is on a mission to help Democrats escape the political wilderness when the party loses control of the White House and Senate and does not win a majority in the House, following an astonishing set-off in the election last November.
But Democrats are now energised to resist the drastic and controversial agenda during President Donald Trump’s second White House mission, but Martin’s previous term has piloted the Nationalist Party Committee.
Two top labor leaders quit DNC with the latest blow to Democrats

“The Democrats have great leadership and Ken has proven to be a weak and ineffective leader who is not prepared for any of these,” a former DNC official told Fox News that he asked for anonymity to speak more freely.
The bitter mistake hampered Martin, the longtime Minnesota Democrats chairman when he won the DNC chairperson’s election during the first four and a half months of work.
Distraction: Democrats hoping to leave Hogg’s controversy afterwards
David Hogg, a 25-year-old activist and school shooting survivor who was elected DNC vice-chairman, served as vice-chairman on the same day Martin won the chairmanship election, pledging to ignite civil war within the party and spend millions of dollars through external political groups, and to support Democrats in the blue district whom he said was “sleeping on the wheels.”

Hogg’s threat to spending money on fellow Democrats, which had never been seen before, ultimately led to his exit from the Nationalist Party Committee earlier this month.
The clash with the party’s Hog has questioned Martin’s embarrassing audio – it leaked to the press – Chair’s ability to lead the DNC.
“You essentially smashed the chance to show the leadership I need,” Martin said of Hogg in a recording first reported by Politico. “I don’t know if I want to do this anymore.”

A few days later – worse news – as two top national labor leaders have left their roles in the DNC.
Randy Weingern, president of the American Federation of Teachers, and President Lee Sanders, an employee of the American Federation, county and city, refused to remain as key members of the DNC after questioning party directions under Martin. The news was first reported by The New York Times.

Meanwhile, DNC is behind in a critical fundraising battle with rival Republican National Committee, according to the cash amounts of the latest campaign.
The latest submission to the Federal Election Commission shows the RNC that has $67 million in cash on hand as of the end of April, far ahead of the DNC’s $17 million funding.
While inscribers over the past few months may calm down, party fundraising could be a concern as Democrats aim to reclaim the House and Senate in next year’s midterm elections.
Members of the DNC committee asked him to remain anonymous, but told Fox News that Martin’s tenure so far has been “overwhelming.”
Meanwhile, longtime Democratic strategist and current member of the DNC committee, Maria Cardona told Fox News, “DNC members are absolutely irritated and tired of the fight, and hope that everyone will focus on getting over themselves and helping Speaker Martin and the party attack Republicans.

She and others have supported Martin to focus on Democrats’ success in off-age and in special elections in recent months, as well as increased investment in national parties.
Another committee member, who was granted anonymity, pointed to the traditional, powerful role of the Kuomintang chair when their party was out of power in the White House.
“Ken is the boss,” a committee member told Fox News. “Ken is rebuilding the house… he still has some major renovations to do.”
However, committee members added that the role can often disrupt feathers with others within the party.
Both Weingarten and Saunders supported Martin’s rivals in the DNC Chair race. As chairman, Martin later removed Weingarten from the DNC Rules and Bylaws Committee. This is the group responsible for drafting the Democratic presidential nomination calendar and election process.
A member of the DNC committee told Fox News Digital that it was “not surprising” that union leaders decided to step down from the DNC.
“I know there are a lot of people carrying grem,” Martin said in an interview with the New York Times this week.

And in a statement to Fox News, Martin said, “Some people in DC just want to win the debate, but they’re focusing on winning elections. This year, Democrats have an unprecedented track record of 32 wins and overperformance in races across the country.
The chair said, “We have to get through the noise and focus on what works,” and “Americans don’t care about Beltway chatter, and I don’t – they don’t want to know that Democrats are fighting for them. Under my leadership, that’s what the DNC does.”
