Former vice presidential candidate Tim Waltz, D-Minn. faces criticism after claiming that China could become the voice of “moral authority” in Israeli-Iran’s conflict.
Last week at the “Next: Conversations On the Path Forward” event hosted by the American Progress Center for American Progress (CAP), Walz answered a question from former Biden White House advisor Neelatanden about the nature of the “escalation” of strikes between the two countries.
“Who is the voice of the world who can negotiate some type of agreement on this now? Who has moral authority? Who has the ability to do it?
With the US shocking war with Iran in the Middle East and war furious, Daniel Pretzka, a well-known senior fellow in foreign and defense policy studies at the conservative think tank American Enterprise Institute (AEI), told Fox News Digital that Walz’s comments are “on display.”

According to Waltz, the United States once “attempted to become arbitrators of arbitrators” in the Middle East, but Americans must face the reality that the Chinese may be the “neutral actor” with “moral authority” to guide negotiations in the Middle East.

Waltz did not elaborate on why China is becoming its world leader.
“Tim Waltz was within the heartbeat of the presidency, which is so incredible to me,” Pretzka said.
Andy Kaiser, a senior fellow at the Conservative National Security Institute and a former senior adviser to the House Intelligence Email Committee, told Fox News Digital that someone “remindes more than anything else that China is far from moral authority,” and that China is “committing a cultural genocide.”
“The Chinese government has reportedly arbitrarily detained more than 1 million Muslims in reeducation camps since 2017,” according to the Foreign Relations Council (CFR). “Most of the detained people are Uyghur, a predominantly Turkish-speaking ethnic group located in the Xinjiang region of northwest China.”

In addition to detention, the CFR states that “Uighurs in the region have been subjected to unwilling sterilization amid severe surveillance, forced labor and other abuses of rights.”
According to Human Rights Watch, President Xi Jinping has “detained human rights advocates, strengthened control of civil society, the media and the Internet, and deployed invasive mass surveillance technology in New Jiang and Tibet.
“I would strongly plead to strongly differently that China has many moral authority in the world,” Kaiser said, adding, “I wouldn’t consider them as neutral arbiters here.”
“Obviously, we won’t be a neutral broker between terrorists and democratic nations,” Pletka said. “That’s not how it works. You threatened to kill the US president, but are we going to think of you in a balanced way with Israel, the state of Israel, the most important ally in the Middle East?”

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu told Fox News’ Brett Byer on Monday that President Donald Trump is the target of Iranians. “They want to kill him. He’s one year old enemy.”
