More than 1,500 Iranians who illegally entered the US on the US border were arrested during the Biden administration, with nearly 50% of whom were released domestically, according to sources from the US Customs and Border Protection (CBP).

More specifically, Border Patrol agents arrested 1,504 Iranian citizens from 2021 to 2024.

The number of Iranian citizens arrested at the southern border has increased year by year, with 48 people arrested in 2021. 197 in 197; 462 in FY23 and 797 in 2024.

Similarly, the number of Iranian citizens released increased, with 2012 increasing in 2012. 40 in FY22; 229 in FY22; 448 in FY224.

It is unclear how many Iranians released to the US were on the terrorist watch list after the Biden administration repeatedly denied Fox News’ Freedom of Information Act requests and data claims. The Biden administration cited “privacy concerns” of those on the list and “minimum public interest” to reject requests.

Still, there is no way to know where individuals came from, as there are more than 2 million known gotaways at the border during the Biden administration and they have never been caught.

All Iranians are considered “special interest aliens” due to national security concerns. Therefore, they are subject to a strengthened review by the Department of Homeland Security (DHS).

The news comes as we hear warnings about the country’s terrifying sleep cell threat just hours after President Donald Trump ordered a successful strike at major nuclear facilities in Iran.

Hours after Trump spoke to the public about a military strike, the DHS issued a memo warning the US “enhanced threat environment.”

The breaking news did not cite any specific threats, but came when Iranian officials vowed to retaliate against the US.

CBP said uncertainty at the southern border fell more than 90% in April from the previous year

The bulletin points to law enforcement in the United States that has disrupted “multiple deadly Iranian-supported plots” since 2020, but it focuses on the failed critical administration’s attempts at Iran’s government.

The recommendation comes after Trump ordered a military strike in what he calls Operation Midnight Hammer at major Iranian nuclear facilities.

“We are in a serious catch-up phase because of the open boundaries,” former FBI assistant director Chris Swecker told Fox News Digital. “I don’t know where these thousands of Iranians are, who knows who others have crossed the border. When they caught and released those thousands, we missed the opportunity. We missed the opportunity to gather Inter by interviewing them and thoroughly reviewing them.

The possibility of foreign mobile phones implementing domestic terrorist plots was pushed into the national spotlight last year after federal prosecutors announced members of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard and two US nations were arrested for killing then-president Trump and critical U.S. citizens of the Iranian administration.

Julia Bonavita, Danielle Wallace and Ashley Papa of Fox News Digital contributed to this report.
