The impact of the border crisis under the Biden administration likely added domestically the fuel for the threat of Iranian sleeper threat, according to a former Chief Director General (DHS), who temporarily led the Immigration and Customs Enforcement Agency (ICE).

After the US strike on Saturday’s nuclear site in Iran, the DHS issued the National Terrorism Advisory System Breaking News on the risks of domestic terrorism from Iran-backed or inspired perpetrators.

“No doubt,” former acting ice director and Fox News contributor Jonathan Fahey said when asked if the Biden border crisis could have made things worse domestically.

The US Immigration and Customs Enforcement Agency has made arrests on January 26, 2025 as part of President Donald Trump’s widespread immigration crackdown in Chicago (immigration and customs enforcement/handouts via Reuters)

“I think there’s one thing that really has to do with it. The first is that we didn’t do any really meaningful reviews in the last administration. The second part is that we know that we’ve probably had two million known gotas through the last administration.

Fahey noted that other countries are likely paying close attention to the intense flow of people illegally crossing the country. He briefly led Ice towards the end of Trump’s first term and was former deputy secretary of DHS.

“But what concerns were that all enemies who knew they had open boundaries for essentially all intents and purposes, and therefore they wanted to plan to send people to spies, gather intelligence and inflict harm on us in order to cause future harm.

“That’s what makes Biden, Biden Mayorkas, open the boundaries very ruthless,” he said.

Fox News reported that about half of the 1,500 Iranians who came illegally during the Biden administration have entered the United States

“If Iranian leaders issue religious rulings calling for retaliatory violence against their home targets, the likelihood of violent extremists in their homeland will likely mobilize independently to violence in response to the conflict,” the DHS bulletin said.

“Recent terrorist attacks in multiple homelands have been motivated by anti-Semitism or anti-Israel sentiment, and the ongoing Israeli-Iran conflict could contribute to US-based individuals planning additional attacks,” he continued.

Other national security experts have doubled the release and Gotaway that continued to pose risk during the Biden administration.

“I don’t know where these thousands of Iranians are, who knows who others have crossed the border. When they caught and released those thousands, we missed the opportunity. We missed the opportunity to gather Inter by interviewing them and thoroughly reviewing them.

Border Emperor Tom Homan sounded a warning about Gotaway on “Sunday Morning Futures” shortly after the Iranian attack.

“I don’t know where they came from, where they came from, as border patrols are overwhelmed by the humanitarian crisis Biden has created. Over two million people have fled across the border, which is my biggest concern.

As for known releases, the Trump administration released no one in May, compared to the roughly 62,000 releases based on the Biden administration last May, according to US Customs and Border Protection data.
