Exclusive: Immigration Customs Enforcement has arrested illegal immigrants in New Haven, Connecticut, allegedly murdering a Mexican law enforcement officer.
Orlando Diaz Sevada, known as “El Resh,” gained ice custody in Connecticut on June 12, 2025. According to DHS, he is said to be a member of the Los Pochos gang, which works with the Sinaloa cartel.
“Thanks to our brave ice law enforcement and federal partners, this criminally illegal alien fugitive who wanted to kill Mexican law enforcement officials is off the streets of America. This heinous killer tried to hide in Connecticut and avoid justice.”

“These are the kinds of illegal aliens of wild bar criminals who take their lives to arrest our brave ice law enforcement every day. America is no longer a safe haven for violent criminals. Don’t think of you entering America illegally.
Diaz-Cebda illegally entered the United States in May 2024 and was deported twice by the US Border Patrol after attempting to reenter two days after the first attempt. According to DHS, the situation when he returned to the United States is unknown, with the department saying it was “not tested, approved or parole” by federal authorities.
Documents reviewed by Fox News Digital from the Attorney General’s Office of Tlaxcala, a Mexican state, showed he is being sought by the country for the worsening murders.

The arrest warrant was filed on April 23, 2024, one month before he came to the US.
According to the WSHU, New Haven is considered a sanctuary city. In April, Mayor Justin Elicker promoted a legal victory as the Trump administration tried to abolish federal funds in cities that were not compliant with federal immigration enforcement.

“New Haven is a welcoming city and is committed to ensuring that all residents call police, seek medical care, send children to schools and access important public services. It’s not only a right policy, but a practical policy,” Elicker said in an April statement.

“We need to make sure the police department is working to combat crime and not being ordered to do federal work. We are very pleased with this ruling and we are extremely pleased that New Haven can use federal funds that are legally mandated to further strengthen public safety in our cities,” the Democrats added.
