House minority leader Hakeem Jeffries has called for President Donald Trump and his senior officials to “justify” the recent strike of US forces in Iran.
“To date, we have seen no evidence that an offensive strike of this nature was justified under the War Power Act or the Constitution,” Jeffries said.
“But the reason the Trump administration is taking on the process is to come to Capitol Hill and convince the American people and their elected representatives in the home and in the Senate. That didn’t happen.”
Trump officials have argued that the strike is in compliance with the War Power Act. This requires the White House to notify Congress within 48 hours of military action, preventing the operation from lasting more than 60 days without the approval of lawmakers.

Jeffries claimed he had never seen a “previous scintillage of evidence” indicating that there was “immediate threat to the United States.”
“If the administration has evidence to the contrary, it comes to present it. We’re not difficult to find. I’m not hiding,” he said.
House Democrat leaders said he requested a briefing for eight gang members on Tuesday.
Over the weekend, airstrikes lit up by Trump Green at three major nuclear sites in Tehran. The president said on a true social Monday that the hit region was “completely destroyed.”
The move has sharply divided Democrats, with some pro-Israels reconciling to support Trump’s move, but some progressives, like Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (DN.Y.), are seeking presidential ramifications each for the operation.
Dozens of leftist lawmakers have lagged behind the resolution of the bipartisan war powers by Thomas Massey and d-caliph Thomas Massey and Locanna (r-ky.) to limit Trump’s ability to attack Iran.

Meanwhile, Jeffries lays multiple questions about the call for each during his press conference, reaffirming his request that Trump officials come before Congress instead.
“The tool currently on the table is to continue to require the administration to present itself before the US Congress and to assert the American people about why this extraordinary step was taken. That’s Step 1,” Jeffries said.
“Step 2 is about a resolution of war power, whether it should occur after that, as it should have occurred, as it was already supposed to occur on the house floor, whether it was already introduced or anyone else who could have been introduced thereafter.
Jeffries again pushed against him whether he was seriously calling out Trump each. “This is a dangerous moment where we are and we have to get over what is right in front of us. And what’s right in front of us is that the Trump administration is responsible for coming to Congress and justifying the actions it has seen evidence that justifies its aggressive strength in Iran,” Jeffries said.

“The White House called Congress leadership. They were a bipartisan call. In fact, we couldn’t get to Hakeum Jeffries. We tried him before the strike, but he didn’t pick up the phone, but he was not only explained later. [Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y.]the person who was explained before the strike,” Levitt said.
“We gave these calls as courtesy. Democrats are lying about this because they can’t speak about the truth about the success of that operation and the success of our US military, and the success of this president and past administrations (to do what Democrats too have dreamed of.”
