Exclusive: In light of the surge in conflicts in the Middle East and rising tensions in the US, the Oklahoma Department of Education sends a note to all public schools in the state, “protecting awakening, radicalized, terrorist rhetoric, imposed on left-wing educators.”
In the memo, Ryan Walters, the director of public leadership in Oklahoma, said, “Oklahoma children will be taught facts, not indoctrinated.”
The memo issues new guidance to Oklahoma public schools, ensuring that social studies courses present “historically grounded and balanced” Israeli guidance, requiring key sources, historical evidence, and “protectiveness to anti-Semitism or politicized narratives.”
That new guidance instructs Oklahoma public educators to present Israeli history and “wars that exist in the world, such as Holocaust atrocities and the current struggle with Iran.”

“These standards provide an essential context for understanding modern threats to the Jewish community and democratic states, and require students to think critically while ensuring Israeli leadership,” the memo says.
This is because anti-Semitism cases have risen nationwide since 2020. Tensions are rising even further as Israel launched strikes at three nuclear development sites in Iran on Saturday after it launched a strike against Iran and the United States.
Fox News Digital has obtained a copy of the notes that will be sent to the school. The memo points to a recent controversy in New York, where the state’s standardized exam research guide states “describes Zionism as a ‘colonial’ movement, including misleading references to terrorism.”
The memo said New York “serves as a solid reminder that ideology and educational materials not only distort historical facts, but also promote risks that promote ideology that contradict Oklahoma’s values.”

“Oklahoma standards are designed to prevent this by setting clear expectations for content accuracy and educational integrity,” says the memo.
“The tragic event of October 7, 2023 – marking a turning point in modern Middle East history when Hamas extremists launched a brutal and shocking attack on Israeli civilians, killing more than 1,200 people and taking hundreds of hostages,” the memo says. “These developments are not mere headlines, but rather a history and emphasis for educators to build an urgent need for them to present global conflict with clarity, accuracy and moral responsibility.”
In a statement emailed to Fox News Digital, Walters touted Oklahoma’s historical standards, saying it was “the best in the country.”

This comes amid growing tensions in the US due to the ongoing conflict between Iran, Israeli and the Israeli president and President Donald Trump’s decision to launch US military strikes at three Iranian nuclear development sites. Iran vowed retaliation and launched a missile at U.S. Ardeid Air Force Base in Qatar on Monday.
