The obvious migrant attack caused two men to be taken into custody during a Torrance car wash in a camera-captured surgery.
Video recorded Sunday from the bubble bus showed about 12 federal agents in the car wash restraining at least two employees in the car wash. Most of the agents covered their faces with masks and sunglasses during the attack.
Business owner Emmanuel Karim said the armed agents ignored his request to see documents for their operations.
“I first walked to them, I tried to say I was the business owner,” Karim said. “They didn’t want to give me a paper, a warrant. They started running to our tunnels. They have signs that no one is allowed in this area except for their employees.
Karim said the agent took off with two employees. After some effort, Karim and his team were able to determine where one employee was taken.
“We’ve done nothing wrong,” Karim said. “They should chase after people with criminal history, not just ordinary people who try to make a living and support their families. This is very non-American.”
Surveillance footage captured the moment when an immigration officer chased and detained Downey’s car wash workers. Amber Frias is reporting an NBC4 News report on Wednesday, June 11th, 2025 at 5pm.
Los Angeles County supervisor Janice Hahn condemned the operation in a statement, likening agents to “thugs.”
“As Torrance families, just a block away from the monthly street fair, enjoyed Sunday afternoons, these masked thugs sent by our own federal government, raided the local car washes violently. “In the meantime, another federal agent is filming the raid with camera equipment. They are trying to create an example for these hardworking people and steal the workers’ business and the families of the earner.”
Sunday’s operation follows a trend of federal agents targeting car washes during the Southern California raid. The Maywood, Bell and Downey car wash businesses are exposed to these businesses.
The attacks led to weeks of protest in Los Angeles and the larger area, with demonstrators denounced the operation.
