Authorities released the identities of the eight people who died when the boat capsized during a severe storm on Lake Tahoe on Saturday.
The victims are:

“The El Dorado County Sheriff’s Office expresses the deepest and heartfelt sadness of the dolphins to the lost people and to the families of all those affected by this tragic event,” the official said in a statement posted on social media on Tuesday.

The intensity of the thunderstorm was surprising even to predictors. Meteorologist Matthew Chiba at the National Weather Service office in Reno, Nevada, said they were predicting rain but not like the squall that denounced the southern part of Lake around 3pm. The wind was 35 mph and the waves were inflated over 8 feet.
The two were rescued immediately. Six bodies were recovered Saturday and the seventh body was found Sunday evening, according to the El Dorado County Sheriff’s Office. The diver found his final victim Monday afternoon.
South Lake Tahoe Police told KCRA-TV in 2022 that there was an average of six deaths each summer, but in 2021 there was a record 15 deaths.
