His neighbors are angry and annoyed after a gardener is cruelly beaten by a homeless man while he was working outside of the Brentwood home.
On June 23rd, Rodolfo Roman was working at a home in the 11,900 block of Dorothy Street.
The man begins to scream to Rome while complaining about the noise from the tools on the grass. When the Romans ask him to leave, he immediately raises the large stick he holds in his hand, begins to behave violently on the Romans, repeatedly slap them in the head and face.
Roman falls to the ground while the attacker continues to attack him. He lifts his arm to protect his face from blows, but the man attacks his arm and eventually breaks it.
Roman was taken to the hospital, where he received a staple in his head and a cast for a big cut and a broken arm.
“I was very scared,” he told KTLA’s Jennifer McGraw. “My legs are shaking and I’m on the ground.”

The male suspect was seen roaming the neighborhood in Brentwood.
“This is my worst nightmare,” said Braden Huil, the Romans were working on when he was attacked. “He’s very upset. He came every week and he was the most beautiful man in the world, just covered in blood.”
“He attacked him as hard as he could,” said neighbor Sean Hefron. “He attacked him with full strength without conscience while he was down.”
Hefron lives next to the vacant property that the squatters lived in. The house reportedly was abandoned by its owner after it burned out 10 years ago.
Since then, Hefron said the home has attracted squatters and temporary people who have taken over the property and streets. Despite repeated calls to city leaders and law enforcement, residents said nothing has been done to resolve the issue.
“It was a living nightmare,” Hefron said.
Over the past few months, criminal activity in abandoned homes has reportedly increased, Hefron said.
“The police have been called many times,” Huile said. “Last week there was a fire that the fire department had to come and leave. We talked to the landowners many times.”
Huile said he even offered to buy the property from the landowner, but insisted he had no interest in selling it.
“I have two young children and I’m scared of my neighbourhood,” Huil said. “This guy is violent, he’s mentally ill and he needs to be taken off the street.”
As Roman continues to recover, he says the biggest problem is that he has no work while his arms are healed. Here is the GoFundMe page launched by Yuill to help Roman.
On Tuesday night, a neighbor told KTLA that the male suspect was placed in authorities and was taken into custody near Bundy Drive and Santa Monica Boulevard in the Sawtel area. His identity has not been released.
KTLA reaches out to the owner of the abandoned property and is waiting for a response.
