According to the Orange County Sheriff’s Office, police in Anaheim are searching for gunmen who killed a security guard outside a 99 bottles and cocktail bar over the weekend.
Law enforcement was called to the 8000 block of Caterra Avenue to report the shooting around 1am Sunday. There, sheriff’s deputies spotted a man suffering from a gunshot wound to his head.
The victim was taken to the nearest hospital, where he died of injuries. He was identified as Salvador Ramirez, 48, of Fountain Valley, the OCSD said.
A few candles and bouquets of flowers were placed at the location of Ramirez’s filming. The victim’s loved one says he remembers that he is a caring individual who enjoyed his work.
“I really feel he loves people,” said Michael Vega, Ramirez’s nephew. “He wanted to make sure they were safe, especially in areas like this where drinks and people are involved. He was always someone who cared for women.”
According to Vega, his uncle worked at the bar for about eight or nine years. He is survived by his five children.
“He always lit the room,” said Joanna Guerrero, a friend and colleague of Ramirez. “The monkeys were there so I knew it would be a fun time.”
As investigators continue to work on the case, they ask the public for help in identifying and finding gunmen who have seen them escape the scene on foot.
“Someone decided that I needed to take my uncle from here. That’s not something that should have happened,” Vega said. “He deserves to be here. He was an angel, guardian of the guardian, and it was everything to everyone.”
