The Los Angeles Police Protection League (LAPPL), which represents around 9,000 members of LAPD, is seeking the resignation and the possibility of prosecution of Cudahy’s sub-company Cynthia Gonzalez following what he described as a “shady social media video post.”
The video defended local street gangs to stand up to peace officials and urged gang leaders on 18th and Florencia Street to “set your f***ing members up,” Rapple said in a statement Wednesday.
“The gang on 18th Avenue and Florencia Street are well known for being a Los Angeles-based criminal enterprise,” reads part of the Lappl statement. “They control the turf through intimidation, violence and murder, and lend their businesses through drugs and illegal firearms, prostitution and sales of protective rackets. ”
The video doesn’t seek specific violent actions, but Gonzalez identifies two famous criminal gangs named who don’t “peep” because “the hood is being invaded.”

“I want to know where all Choros are in Los Angeles. Florencia, 18th Avenue. Where is the leadership?
Rapple says both gangs have a known history of killing police officers, cited by several members of the Florencia gang who were convicted of the 1998 murder of LAPD officer Filbert Cuesta by gang members on 18th Street and the 2022 murder of rapped police officer Fernando Arroyos.
In 2001, there were reports that the 18th Avenue gang placed bounty for the injury or murder of a Los Angeles police officer.
“Mr. Gonzalez urged and provoked these particular gangs to do it on social media posts, which is taking a greater risk for police officers and other law enforcement experts,” said Rapple. “Her actions are deplorable and potentially illegal. She should resign and if she breaks the law, she should be prosecuted.”
