Tonight, Michelin announced a list of California restaurants that starred in 2025 at an awards ceremony in Sacramento. Here’s the results for Los Angeles: Three Michelin stars (the city’s first) were awarded to Somni, Los Angeles’ most expensive restaurant. Providence’s highly coveted third star, Michael Simarsty’s longtime Hollywood fine dining hosts two stars each year that Michelin has been valuing LA restaurants since 2009 (The Guide left LA for 10 years and returned in 2019.

One of the world’s most famous dining guides (and multinational French tire companies), Michelin decides what they think is worth visiting by sending anonymous inspectors across a particular city, state, region or country. In North America, the overall bias of the guide to Japanese Omakaze and French fine dining is well known, but very well known, in terms of the food and price range within each edition of the guide.

There was hardly the same thing this year in LA. Two newest one-star LA restaurant for 2025 is Restaurant KI, Little Tokio’s modern Korean tasting menu. Almost every other two- and one-star eatery in LA has maintained its position, except for the closed West Hollywood sushi art. At Santa Barbara, Silvers Omakaze has earned the brand new star designation. The restaurant is run by pasta brother Lennon Silver’s Lee | brother of bar Philip Frankland Lee, whose restaurant at Encino Strip Mall maintains a Michelin star.

On the Bib Gourmand front, three new LA area restaurants have been recognized in the tyre company’s more budget-friendly restaurant rating category. A lunch counter centered around Mercado Paloma, run by Komal and two Holbox alumni. Lasalma, chef Johnny Lee’s trendy Malaysian historic Filipino town spot. And Vinfolk in Hermosa Beach, whose Timeout recently wrote as a bistro worthy of a South Bay destination. To consider the more affordable category of the French Tire Company’s world-renowned dining guide, Bib’s Gourmand Restaurants should offer a complete menu that allows you to order two courses and drink or dessert for less than $49 (tax and gratuity).

For ease of use, we’ve detailed alphabetical details of LA’s latest Michelin star and bib Gourmand, restaurants that have lost their Michelin stars (and will soon update our list of Michelin starred restaurants). All restaurants are located within the city of LA unless stated in parentheses.
