Travis Scott surprises fans when The Weeknd returns to Sophie Stadium

Weekend returned to Sophie Stadium in Inglewood for the first time in three years just hours before the Dawn Tour.

The Wednesday night show began running for four shows at the venue. This has earned the record feat of the most sold out shows by male artists in the stadium.

Rapper Playvoy Carti opened the show and surprised fans by appearing from Travis Scott. The duo performed their hit song “Fe! N,” and the stadium shook as the crowd rose.

At 9:17pm, Weekund hit the stage wearing his black and gold ensemble, featuring a gold eye mask. The “popular” singer was trapped between dancers wearing red robes and headcovers, moving crowds on “The Abyss” on his latest album, “Hurry Up Tomorrow.”

The stage itself had the feel of a “apocalyptic dystopian cityscape.”

After warming the crowd, he revealed his face and spoke to the elephant in the room. He lost his voice and had returned to where he suddenly cut the show in an instant from 2022.

“I have some memories of this stage, right?” he said. “Well, I’m back in vengeance, Sophie for 4 nights!”

He then said, “It’s your fault!”

“We make sure that night one is the best night out of four nights. He told the fans, “This is the best.”

And he showed his voice was back and he was stronger than ever.

All night, the Grammy-winning singer, whose real name is Abertefei, has constantly engaged with the crowds, abandoning the elusive look that has long been holding since the mixtape era of the early 2010s.

Back in 2022, he was about 90 minutes before Dawn Show without an encore.

However, it appears he has received some feedback and listened. This leg of the tour proved he’s now a global “star boy” with the addition of extra visual touches on the big screen and a switch-up of the set list.

The nearly two and a half hour show ran through the range of his catalogue and softened his long-standing new fanbase. He even made sure to include “One Girl” from his HBO show “The Idol”.

“I am so proud and honored to see Abel perform over the past decade,” explained Gashi Woods, a longtime fan who has followed the singer’s career since performing at a small venue in Hollywood, and LA native. “This show felt like he was doing what he loved, like he was in his own element.”

After slamming his pandemic-era hit “Blind Light,” fans thought the show was over. However, the “call my name” singer turned off the lights and continued to guess them.

After a while, he told the City of Angels he wasn’t ready to leave yet, and gave fans encores of multiple songs, including “Moth to the Fire” and “House of Balloons.”

The Weeknd will perform shows at Sophie on June 26th, 28th and 29th, and will remain in Southern California for the rest of the week.
