The lottery scracker purchased from a convenience store in Burbank became a $1 million award for one lucky winner.
The Triple Red 777 Scatchers game was purchased in March at Chuck Corner Market on San Fernando Boulevard.
Antonio Ruta bought a life-changing lottery ticket and joined another group of California lottery winners, attacking gold in a recent lottery game.
In Sonoma County, Andrea Willer bought a super lot and ticket at 76 gas stations, winning a $30 million jackpot. Willer chose to take the lump, which would reach around $14 million before federal taxes.
California lottery officials say other players have won big wins by doing what other players may know they can.
“Players of Superlotto Plus and Fantasy 5 Draw Games can enter the second coincidence drawing from the moment they purchase a ticket,” the lottery said. “Scradder players can use the California lottery app or online to enter unwinnable tickets into their second chance drawing using their California lottery account.”
Recent winner Donald Breck Jr. used a second chance drawing with a losing scratch ticket, earning $30,000.
Breck says he actually forgot that he had entered the painting of Second Chance, and that he hadn’t checked his emails. He learned through his sister, who he learned from someone else, that Breck is the winner and should check his emails.
“I logged in to my lottery account and saw that I was the winner,” Breck said. “I was like, ‘This is pretty exciting.’ ”
Breck says he intends to use his prize money to pay off his credit card and work around the house.
In addition to the winners, businesses that sell winning tickets are also eligible for lottery cash.
