A Southern California man remains on life support after being attacked by a hit-and-run driver, and his loved ones are devastated.
One night, Alex Olmed II was on a work trip in Chicago when he decided to walk his friend’s dog.
Surveillance video that night captured the moment Olmed was hit by a driver.
“One of the dogs was overly excited to go to the park on the other side of the street, so he began to over-animate,” said his son, Alex Olmed III. “[My dad] I was hit by the car. He was launched into the middle of the street. ”
The collision drilled holes in both Olmed’s lungs, leaving him with multiple fractures. He was rushed to the hospital where he remained stable.
However, he cannot breathe himself and is on life support for almost three weeks. The dog escaped with minimal injuries.

“He’s fighting pneumonia right now,” his son said. “He’s completely coma. He’s not breathing himself.”
Earlier this year, the family said Olmed was forced into a deadly Palisade fire.
“He has lived in the hotel, with his friends and family since the incident,” his son said.
Last month, Olmed saw his son get married and had something to celebrate when he was surrounded by his family. His loved one said it was a painful reminder that things could change soon.
“My family and I maintain hope, but that was really tough,” his son said.
As hospital bills pile up, his family is saving their money while hoping that Olmed will be pulled out.
“Insurance only helps us that much, so we reach out to our local community and ask for help,” his son said.
