First Fox: A group of House Republicans demand that they know how the US is ready to protect domestic assets in the event of a potential attack on their homeland.

“We are writing to the US Department of Defense (DOD) and the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) to inquire about the current status of drone attack countermeasures at military facilities, government buildings, embassies and consulates, both domestically and internationally,” the GOP lawmaker wrote in a letter.

“Ongoing conflicts in Ukraine and the Middle East demonstrate that large, highly coordinated mass drone attacks are highly effective when defenders lack proper counter-drone defense.”

The letter was sent late Thursday after Israel and Iran declared a ceasefire a few days after escalated their attacks within each other’s boundaries.

Just before President Donald Trump announced the ceasefire, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) warned that the Middle East conflict is “stimulating an increase in the threatening environment in the United States.”

The House of Representatives will be described behind closed doors regarding the situation with Iran at 9am Friday.

“Since 9/11, our country has not suffered from a majorly regulated attack on our soil. The government has done a good job of preventing attacks like 9/11 from happening again, but we want to ensure a new paradigm where relatively inexpensive drones can quickly and effectively wipe out quickly and effectively.

“The prediction of the American threat is globally strong among all branches of the military, but we need to prepare for potentially disastrous threats in preparation for a new paradigm of secrets to our core military interests, including the homeland nuclear triad.”

The letter is led by Rep. Mike Carey of R-Ohio.

Lawmakers are asking Secretary of Defense Pete Hegses and Secretary of Homeland Security Christie Noem to see whether counter-drone technology is being considered in Trump’s plans for the US Golden Dome defense system.

They also asked whether there was “concern about the accumulation of all sorts of weaponized drones already occurring in the United States from drones that may have been smuggled due to the open border policies of previous administrations.”

Noem and Hegus were also questioned whether they were “aware” or actively working to stop the potential threats born near important US military and infrastructure sites that could be the launching of popular drone attacks like they saw in Russia.

Fox News Digital reached out to the Pentagon and DHS for comment.
