Trump Administrator Exploring $30 Billion Private Nuclear Trade for Iran – NBC Los Angeles

The Trump administration has been investigating possible economic incentives for Iran in return for the administration to stop enriching uranium, including releasing billions of frozen Iranian assets, according to three sources familiar with the debate.

The interim proposal will allow Iran to receive support from regional countries to allow Tehran to build a private nuclear program and grant Tehran as much as $30 billion.

The proposal is one of many ideas the administration is considering, sources said. Details of the administration’s debate were first reported by CNN.

The potential contract would mark a major reversal in President Trump’s policy, which drew the US from the Obama administration’s nuclear deal with Iran in 2018.

Still, it is not immediately clear whether financial proposals or negotiations between the US and Iran will move forward.

Earlier on Friday, President Trump threatened to drop the possibility of Iran’s sanctions relief after Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei declared victory in the war with Israel and disregarded the importance of US attacks on the US nuclear presence.

“Why does Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, the so-called “Super Leader,” the war-torn country of Iran, say so blatantly and foolishly, as he won the war with Israel when he knows his statement is a lie? ” Trump wrote in a lengthy post on Truth Social, adding. “For the past few days I have been working on the possibility of removing sanctions and other things, which would have given Iran a much better opportunity with a complete, fast and full recovery. But sanctions are biting!

In a pre-recorded speech on Iranian television on Thursday, Khamenei said:

He added: “This action can be repeated in the future.”

However, later on Friday, Trump insisted that Iranians would like to meet with him to discuss possible sanctions relief.

“They want to meet me. We’ll do it soon. We’re going to do it soon,” Trump told reporters at a White House meeting with Foreign Ministers of the Democratic Republic of Congo and Rwanda.

“Don’t you think there’s a sanction that they can’t do anything? Don’t they want to meet me? I mean, they’re not stupid.”

Defense Secretary Pete Hegses praised the US military for “eliminating” Iran’s nuclear sites during this week’s air attacks. The secretary also said the full extent of the damage would take several weeks, and a preliminary report from the American intelligence reporting agency said the damage was serious but not complete loss, but was inaccurate.
