Federal agents were spotted chasing people on Friday after raiding a car wash near the Pacific Coast Highway in Wilmington.
Witnesses said they saw people being pursued by federal officers on the street near PCH. At least one woman is running away with the help of the public.
“She’s obviously trying to help her by getting in the car with someone she didn’t know,” said Javier Salazar, a witness in the area.
It is unclear how many people were taken into custody, but the video captured at least one person caught after falling in an attempt to escape federal agents.
One witness said he saw what appeared to be nine federal officers raining down on the area.
LA County Commissioner Janice Hahn condemned the immigrant attack and labeled it as a way for federal agents to “spread fear and publicity.”
“This morning, masked ice agents sent by our own federal government came down to Wilmington, where people were chasing people, hoping for fear and propaganda,” Hearn said. “Families are being deprived of the businesses of their earners, workers and customers, and our community is silenced in fear.”
NBC4 contacted federal authorities in Friday’s attack but received no response.
