Exclusive – Former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo says recent US military attacks on Iran’s nuclear facilities have signalled the world.
Pompeo, who served as CIA director and later the US diplomat in President Donald Trump’s first administration, said in an exclusive national interview with Fox News Digital that the attack conveyed the message “America is leading the world.”
And this week, regardless of the heated debate over the president’s claim that the attack “eliminates” Iran’s ability to acquire nuclear weapons, Pompeo said “sufficient damage has happened,” and as a result, “Americans are safer.”

Pompeo said, “There are certainly some risks in the near future. Iranians can decide to do secrets, or terrocellations here, etc., but we can’t get it wrong.
Praising the Trump administration’s handling of strikes against Iran, Pompeo said, “I think they made it almost perfect. They made the message right. They carried out an incredibly good military operation too.”

He then said the United States is “close to removing this risk to itself.”

Pointing to the strike against Iran, Pompeo told Fox News that America’s deterrent against top enemies around the world has “an increase as a result of what happened in the Middle East. That’s definitely true.”
In his speech and his interview, Pompeo also called out right and left isolationists to abandon US global leadership.
“In my own party, there are people on the left who don’t think American leadership is important in the world. It’s not worth it for the United States to struggle to keep our people safe,” he argued.
And Pompeo said that part of his message was “there is that there is no American leadership in the world, we are all not safe.”
Turn your eyes to these Republicans in the 2028 presidential election to make Trump successful
Pompeo has traveled multiple times to Iowa and New Hampshire, the first two states that have traditionally voted for the Republican presidential nomination in 2024.
And his granite return to the state sparked speculation about a potential White House bid in 2028. Wednesday night’s event took place at the New Hampshire Political Institute at St. Anselm College. It was a must-see for those with national ambitions for decades, a first-time presidential reserve nation.
“Yeah, it’s inevitable. It’s a problem when someone who’s a former Secretary of State travels to this beautiful place,” Pompeo told Fox News when he mentioned New Hampshire.

Pompeo said, “I really came here because I want to be part of the policy debate. What happens three and a half years from now is a very long way to go.”

But at this very early point in the 2028 election cycle, he didn’t rule out the possibility of a White House run, saying, “We’ll see what a good Lord will bring in in a few years.”
“No, if I get the opportunity to find a place where I think I can make a difference, I do that every time.” Pompeo told Fox News.
