The GOP Senator reported on the leaked Iranian damage report, “slamming the media for trying to undermine Trump.”

A Republican senator told Fox News Digital that he thought the initial leaked report underestimating the damage was inaccurate and politically motivated after receiving a full intelligence report on air strikes approved by President Donald Trump on Iran’s nuclear facility.

“I don’t think the leaked Intelligence Report’s report is accurate, and I think the clear evidence was overwhelming in the damage given the 14 bunkerbuster bombs dropped at Iran’s nuclear weapons facilities,” Sen. R-Texas said.

In response to why so many media outlets ran with leaked stories, Cruz told Fox News Digital that there was “obviously a political agenda.”

Earlier this week, CNN cited people familiar with the assessment, reporting that the early consensus of the Defense Intelligence Agency’s strikes did not destroy key elements of Iran’s nuclear programme or destroy highly enriched uranium stockpiles.

The outlet also reported that the strike was likely to have retreated in months rather than months, as promoted by the Trump administration.

President Trump and the Secretary of Defense opposed the “fake news” media at a NATO summit press conference, hoping that the US attack on Iran has wiped out the country’s nuclear program.

“We’ve received a statement from Israel’s Atomic Energy Commission,” Trump said at a press conference on Wednesday from The Hague, closing his trip to the NATO summit in the Netherlands. “As you know, they’re very serious people.”

“‘The devastating US strike at Fordow has destroyed the site’s critical infrastructure and prevented the enrichment facility from operating completely,” Trump reads from the letter. “‘It was devastated. I appreciated that the US strike against Iran’s nuclear facilities had retreated Iran’s ability to develop nuclear weapons for years to come.

Trump said on Saturday that the US has completed a “very successful” strike against Iran’s nuclear presence in Fordow, Natanz and Isfahan, and that Iran’s nuclear enrichment facility has been “exterminated.” (Fox News)

The senator received a confidential information briefing on the strike from the top national security authorities on Thursday.

R-Mo. Sen. Josh Hawley of the group told Fox News Digital that the broad report on the leaked report was “thinking to undermine Trump, of course.”

“Listen, we walked through this at the briefing without realizing that I shouldn’t be talking about. Basically, it wasn’t an accurate picture, and it wasn’t,” Holy said. “What they were quoting wasn’t really a complete information report. It was similar to the guess of late, early ratings. So it was basically very misrepresented beyond that.”

“And he went on,” he continued, “reporters who cover pentagons and national security will know that. So I have to say some kind of malicious intentions by friends of liberal media reporters who are clearly trying to undermine the president.”

Meanwhile, at least one Democrat senator was also pleased with what he was told during the briefing.

“Most of my questions were answered. I think that was a good explanation,” Senator Jeanne Shaheen said. “I don’t think Iran should have nuclear weapons. Hopefully this is dramatically suppressing that program. And in the end, they’ll see them go to the negotiation table because it’s a real long-term solution.”

While many Democrats have called the president’s strike an unconstitutional move, Shaheen said, “It’s limited, including strikes,” and “If we dramatically retreated Iran’s nuclear program, the first report is there – that’s a good thing.”

However, other democratic senators were not yet so healed by the briefing.

Sen. Chris Van Hollen (D-Md.) told Fox News Digital that the briefing was “a clear violation of our constitution,” and that “Trump is betraying Americans by filling the US in this conflict again.”

D-Va. Sen. Tim Kane told Fox News Digital that the briefing “didn’t change my views, but I think it’s all sorted and I just left it there.”

Senator Chris Coons was even more vague about whether he had changed.

“You can’t tell you what you learned in a categorized briefing. You can tell you that it was destructive,” Coons said. “We still don’t have a complete and complete understanding of which capabilities have been degraded or destroyed, and the additional risks we may face, or what decisions the Iranian regime will make.”
